The 'Oasis' Centre is like a 'Village Hall' in the Port area of Jávea.
The Oasis name
is derived from the Bible verse, in Exodus Chapter 15 verse 27, where it states:
"And they
came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees;
and they encamped there by the waters."
Jávea's Oasis Centre was established to provide shelter, refreshment and
encouragement to those in need.
There are an
estimated 10,000 British people living in Jávea, many with the trappings
of wealth and prosperity, but there are others who feel lonely, sad, neglected,
hard-up and for whom every new day, is an uphill struggle.
It is Clive and Ann's belief that people have to be met and helped at their 'point
of need' - as did the 'Good Samaritan' in the parable Jesus told. Matthews Gospel
chapter 5 and verse 16 says: " Let your light so shine before men that they
may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
